This book provides an invaluable resource to students of equity and trusts. It explains the general principles of the current law of equity and trusts in Malaysia and where appropriate makes critical analysis of the position of the law. It seeks to highlight in particular the law as decided by the Malaysian courts. Besides Malaysian decisions, cases from England, Australia, Canada and New Zealand have been regularly cited and quoted from.

Divided into three parts “Trusts, Trusteeship and Remedies” this book comprises 15 chapters. The part on Remedies may also be of particular interest to students taking the Certificate in Legal Practice examination and legal practitioners as it highlights the application of and differences between damages in equity and damages at law, an area in which the law is actively developing within the Commonwealth.

The book also examines decisions in areas governed by legislation, in particular the Specific Relief Act 1950. On occasions where a particular issue is yet to reach the Malaysian courts, the book has attempted to indicate the probable course of, and the policy considerations which may determine, the local position.
